Report on A/V Special Interest Group Meeting
by Peter Myers on Jul.15, 2009, under Audio/Visual group
Tuesday, July 14th was the first meeting of the A/V special interest group at Wadham House.
17 members turned up on the evening.
Peter Myers and Ross Garner demonstrated 3 existing A/V presentations, and the group were invited to critique these presentations. The main point which came from the critiques were the importance of planning the story to be told by the A/V, the relevance of appropriate music to the presentation, and the significance of ensuruing that visual transitions were “In Sync” with the beat and temp of the accompanying music.
Ross demonstrated his A/V presentations which were produced in the dark ages, long before the availability of computers and compter software. The core production techniques referred to above were all present in these A/V’s and clearly demonstrated their importance.
The group agreed to meet each month, with the objective of presenting a number of completed A/V productions to the club by March 2010 with the intention of selecting some A/V’s to represent the club at the 2010 VAPS muster.
Next month’s meeting will be Tuesday August 11th at Wadham House. Ross and Peter will bring some image and audio assets to the meeting and the group will together begin the process of creating an A/V from these assets.
