New A/V Gallery
by Peter Myers on Nov.19, 2009, under Audio/Visual group
We now have a new A/V gallery to add to our ever increasing range of galleries to showcase members work.
The gallery can be found HERE. Please treat this gallery just like the comment gallery, go and have a look, play the video (You will need a PC (or a MAC!) with speakers) and make your comments as you think appropriate.
At the moment it may look like a Peter & Jill Myers A/V gallery but that is because I have yet to persuade our other A/V makers to showcase their work on the gallery.
So to all our excellent A/V makers who have shown their A/V’s at the A/V group meeting (You know who you are … Leif… Andy … Roger… Mary… Fred… Craig) and those who are about to finalise their A/V’s (You know who you are also!) we will be demonstrating how to upload your productions at the final A/V group meeting in December.
In the meantime please contact me and I will talk you through the very easy uploading process
Details about our initial “Portrait & Flash Photography” meeting Jan 27th 2010
by Peter Myers on Nov.19, 2009, under Portrait & Flash Photography
On Wednesday January 27th we will host our initial “Portrait & Flash Photography” special interest group meeting.
The purpose of this group meeting is to help all who are interested, learn how to take better photos using flash lighting, in particular portable “strobe” lighting. In many instances a typical use of flash photography is to take “portrait” shots and this is a genre of photography we will be focusing on (no pun intended…) during the year, although other uses of flash photography will be discussed.
We are very fortunate with our club to have Teddy Tan as our group co-ordinator. Teddy is a very experienced photographer who regularly produces great portrait work and great shots using his portable strobe lighting.
We are also fortunate to be able to kick start our group meeting in 2010 by having David Gilliver as our main presenter tonight.
David is a member of Melbourne camera club and a highly respected photographer in his own right. David’s main speciality is the use of strobe and studio lighting. David is one of the tutors at Melbourne camera club, regularly teaching on the subject of strobe and studio lighting.
This should be a great evening…mark it in your diary. As ever, all members and guests are welcome.
End of Year Competition For Beginners, New Members & Guests
by Peter Myers on Nov.03, 2009, under Annual Competitions
This year, we will be running an end of year competition for our beginners, new members and registered guests.
If you fall into this classification, the idea of this competition is to encourage you, and get you used to entering images into our competitions
The competition will be judged by none other than our beginners group co-ordinator and club president, Pete Davies!
If you want to enter this competition (and you should) you are invited to submit just ONE entry in an “Open” classification, whichever entry YOU consider to be your best entry. You can submit their entry as an EDI to comp@waverleycameraclub.org . All you have to do is make sure the subject line says “EOY Beginners, New Members & Guests Competition” (Copy and paste this if you like!)
The competition is open to all “B” graders, to all new members to all beginners and our registered guests. The proviso being that you should have submitted entries in no more than THREE of our monthly competitions. If you are not sure if you qualify for this contact Jill Myers our membership secreatrey, by e mail and she will clarify for you.
The competition will be judged on the last of our monthly “Beginners Group” meetings on November 24th. The closing date for EDI entries is Nov 22nd. If you are submitting a print, just bring it along on the night of Nov 24th.
I think, and hope, that this idea will stimulate our beginners to understand what is involved in entering a competition, and to help them loose their reluctance to enter competitions.
As with the regular EOY competition, a prize and trophy will be awarded to the winner.
Good Luck…and don’t be shy…remember if you don’t enter, you can’t win!
