Knox interclub and VIGEX exhibition
by Stephen Edmonds on Jul.26, 2010, under Club outings, Interclub competitions, National & International competitions
The club has again entered the annual black and white interclub competition run by the Knox Photographic Society. The judging night is this Wednesday at the Boronia West Primary School, starting at 8PM followed by supper.
Unfortunately this clashes with our portrait and flash photography group, but if you are not going along to that, please come along to the judging night to represent the club, and possibly learn a thing or two from the judge’s comments.
The judging of the Pakenham National is this Saturday. We are still waiting to hear if observers are permitted or not. If they are, details will be posted in the next day or so. Let Pete know if you are interested.
Finally, this Sunday is the first of August which means it is also time for our monthly Sunday outing. As the exhibition for the VIGEX 2010 Salon also opens on that day we have decided to head down to Geelong for the exhibition (at the Geelong Art Gallery, Little Malop Street, Geelong). We will meet at the gallery at 11am, have lunch somewhere around 1pm, then a photo shoot somewhere after lunch.

VIGEX 2010 and People & Planet competitions
by Stephen Edmonds on Mar.25, 2010, under National & International competitions
There are two external competitions that members might be interested in.
Entries close in June for the VIGEX International Photographic Print Salon 2010. As the name indicates, this is an international competition, yet based in Victoria, and it is recognised by international photographic societies. This prestige comes at a price, an entry price, however if 10 or more people from the club enter, a discount is available.
Another competition, closing at the end of May, is The People & Planet International Photo Competition 2010. The aim of this competition is to select 55 photos to be published in the 2011 People & Planet: Social Justice & Environment Diary & Calendar, which raises money for Australian non-profit organisations. The top three photos receive a cash prize.
Millicent Photographic Show…
by Peter Myers on Nov.03, 2009, under National & International competitions
Dear Photographer
A unique opportunity to be involved in something new and exciting for Millicent and surrounds, in fact for all photographers amateur or professional, there is a space for you.
In January 2010 Millicent will host the first ever Rotary Photographic Art Exhibition dedicated solely to photography. The event, to be run by the Rotary Club of Millicent will be the largest photography event of its kind in South Australia and possibly Australia. With Prize money of $5,500 and 4 categories plus the Mayoral Award for the most outstanding photograph, the exhibition is being held over the busy January period, and with this there is an opportunity for you to participate and sell your works.
With this in mind I invite you/your members to participate in this inaugural photographic art show.
We anticipate that over 400-framed photographs from across Australia will be received for display within the Millicent Civic and Arts Centre for a period of 8 days from January 8th through to January 15th 2010. It is expected that locals, domestic visitors and a large contingent of tourists will be drawn to the event from right across the region during this peak tourism holiday period.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Millicent we invite you to participate in this exciting initiative.
Thank you for taking the time to consider exhibiting in this Art Show, which we hope will be the first of an annual growing event.
Please find attached the Entry Form and Conditions of Entry.
