by Dave Sumner on Jul.09, 2009, under Interclub competitions

Knox B&W comp

We have been invited to be one of six clubs competing in the annual Knox B&W competition.

Our entries are in and the judging night will be on Wednesday the 22nd of July. It will be an excellent opportunity to go and see some monochrome photography and I really do hope that Waverley can muster as many representatives as possible.

The venue is the Boronia West Primary School, Tormore Road, Boronia at 8pm.

Plea For B&W Images for the KNOX Competition

by Dave Sumner on Jul.01, 2009, under Interclub competitions

Hi Guys,

We are in urgent need of some small prints for the Know B&W comp. We have to have the entries in to them by Tuesday 7th July 2009 and so far we have NONE.

Being a B&W comp the prints have to be monochrome. The image can be no larger than 5×7 inches. They must be matted and the matt can not be larger than 8×10. If you have anything we can enter (and I know some of you do) please deliver it to Albert Hutchison by Sunday night.

His address and telephone number is in the email sent to you all. The small print section of the Knox B&W is aimed at B graders so please don’t be thinking that you don’thave anything good enough to enter. If matting is the problem then ring me on the number supplied in the email and I will arrange to get the print from you and get it matted.

4 Club Competition Tues 21st April

by Peter Myers on Apr.23, 2009, under Interclub competitions

What a great night…what a great result!

For those of you who did not manage to get to the “4 Club” competition on Tuesday night the final results were..

Mono Print Competition
Eastern Suburbs Photographic Society – 74 Points
Maroondah Photographic Society – 68 Points
Waverley Camera Club – 69 Points
Berwick Viewfinders – 67 Points

Colour Print Competition
Eastern Suburbs Photographic Society – 71 Points
Maroondah Photographic Society – 66 Points
Waverley Camera Club – 73 Points
Berwick Viewfinders – 75 Points

EDI Images Competition
Eastern Suburbs Photographic Society – 66 Points
Maroondah Photographic Society – 62 Points
Waverley Camera Club – 73 Points
Berwick Viewfinders – 72 Points

Overall Club Totals
Eastern Suburbs Photographic Society – 211 Points
Maroondah Photographic Society – 196 Points
Waverley Camera Club – 215Points
Berwick Viewfinders – 214Points

So overall, a win by 1 point for Waverley Camera Club…(Cue…”We are the champions” by Queen). The “icing on the cake” was the fact that our own Teddy Tan won the individual award for best Monochrome print, and Tuck Leong won the individual award for best colour print, so well done Teddy & Tuck.

A great night, some excellent judging comments, and in the words of the judge “some absolutely excellent images”.

But despite the accolade of winning on the evening, the highlight for most WCC club members in attendance, and there were many, was the presentation of a club Life Membership to our very own Fred Bullock.

Congratulations Fred, from all the club members old and new who you have served so well over the years.

A more deserving award there could not possibly be!
