Report on A/V Special Interest Group Meeting
by Peter Myers on Jul.15, 2009, under Audio/Visual group
Tuesday, July 14th was the first meeting of the A/V special interest group at Wadham House.
17 members turned up on the evening.
Peter Myers and Ross Garner demonstrated 3 existing A/V presentations, and the group were invited to critique these presentations. The main point which came from the critiques were the importance of planning the story to be told by the A/V, the relevance of appropriate music to the presentation, and the significance of ensuruing that visual transitions were “In Sync” with the beat and temp of the accompanying music.
Ross demonstrated his A/V presentations which were produced in the dark ages, long before the availability of computers and compter software. The core production techniques referred to above were all present in these A/V’s and clearly demonstrated their importance.
The group agreed to meet each month, with the objective of presenting a number of completed A/V productions to the club by March 2010 with the intention of selecting some A/V’s to represent the club at the 2010 VAPS muster.
Next month’s meeting will be Tuesday August 11th at Wadham House. Ross and Peter will bring some image and audio assets to the meeting and the group will together begin the process of creating an A/V from these assets.
A/V “Special Interest” Group Meeting
by Peter Myers on Jul.12, 2009, under Audio/Visual group
On Tuesday, July 14th we have our first meeting of the A/V special interest group.
The meeting will take place at Wadham House at 7.30am. Bring some sandwiches and drinks for refreshment.
As this is the first group meeting, the agenda for the night will be very flexible. We will decide how we want to proceed with these meetings and what our objectives are.
To get you started, as most of you will know I have just returned from a holiday to the UK and I have just finished an A/V presentation of the trip which you can view HERE.
We can discuss, critique and disect this A/V on Tuesday if this helps…
See you all on Tuesday….
WCC Audio Visual (A/V) Group
by Peter Myers on Jun.02, 2009, under Audio/Visual group
We are proposing to introduce a “Special Interest” group for all members interested in learning how to create A/V’s (Audio/Visual presentations).
A/V’s are a special category of image presentation which camera clubs can create for their own competitions, and indeed can enter into VAPS inter club competitions and various national competitions. At the recent VAPS muster over 20 clubs entered A/V’s into the VAPS competition.
An A/V is usually a presentation of a collection of images, usually set to music, and occasionaly with a narrative or voice over. An A/V normally runs for approximately 4 minute.
We are fortunate at WCC to have Ross Garner as one of our members. Ross is VERY knowledgeable on this subject and we may be able to persuade Ross to give us the benefit of his knowledge…let’s see.
If anyone is interested in joining this group please contact either Dave Sumner or Peter Myers. We will possibly need to arrange a meeting place (Wadham House?) and time, and agree on a special interest group membership fee to cover the meeting room hire etc.
