23rd Eastern Interclub Results

The 23rd Eastern Interclub commenced at 8pm to a packed room and Waverley certainly did not disgrace itself with members attending. The slideshow commenced and we all sat waiting with anticipation looking on at the usual mix of camera club images. One of the problems of being in a club that starts with W is that we usually have to wait until the end to see our images and tonight was no exception only being tipped to last by Yarra Ranges. As usual we did very well, the Judge Lin Richards showing his usual professionalism in picking the best images and we didn’t have to wait long to get results 1st place (Vicki Moritz), 2nd place (Ron Weatherhead) and a merit (Rosie Hughes) in the small prints followed by a merit in the large prints (Rosie Hughes) and two merits (Cuc Chong and Dave Sumner) and a 1st place (Richard Dabbous) in EDI.

Points for each image entered by WCC can be found in the gallery HERE

Well done everyone and once again a big huge massive thanks to Donna Clarke for doing all the work in getting this together.

End of year competition 2013

Now that we have concluded our monthly competitions, it is time for members to submit their entries for the end of year competition. Of images entered throughout the year, members can select from those to enter the end of year competition with three images in each of:

  • Colour printed
  • Monochrome printed
  • Open EDI

The entry must have been entered into a 2013 monthly competition and in the same format. A print must have been previously entered as a print, and an EDI must have been previously entered as an EDI. An EDI cannot be printed and entered as a print, or vice versa.

Entries are due by Tuesday 29 October (when we host the 4-Club competition), though prints can also be brought along to the judging night on Tuesday 1 October.

Know B&W Interclub Results – 24th July 2013

We had a great turn out at the Knox Interclub again almost outnumbering the host club. We waited with anticipation as the slideshows of images from 8 clubs that had been judged by Duane Eakes from Ivanhoe slowly churned away in alphabetical order, our only saving grace being that Williamstown were after us. Novice prints were through and the HC’s and place getters were announced and with 15 points and first place ‘Wiseman’ by Rosie Armitage, we were ecstatic and so pleased for Rosie. The Open prints churned away next and again there were some exceptional images but this time a Highly Recommended for Vicki Moritz with ‘A Quick Look Back’ and then in second place ‘Pull Up’ by Dave Sumner.

Next were the EDI images and the novice section with Highly Commended for Craig Francisco for ‘Peek-a-Boo’ and followed by the Open EDI with another Highly Commended for Alan Scott with ‘Mangrove Trees’.

A great night was had by all and some great networking was done and thank you very much to all that came and supported the club. Full scores of all of our images can be found online in our gallery HERE

The overall results were as follows:

Also thanks again to all who participated and came along on the night.

Knox B&W Interclub 2013

The judging of the Knox B&W Interclub Competition will be held on Wednesday 24th July at 7.45pm Sharp.

The mentoring group will not run on this Wednesday, instead we encourage members to attend this event to hear another perspective on images.

For the benefit of the newer members, WCC takes part in several interclub competitions throughout the year and we submit images from members to represent the club against several other camera clubs. There are 5 images in each category and there are 4 categories as follows: Open EDI, Novice EDI, Open Print and Novice Print.

Going to the judging of these events is not only really beneficial in seeing what other clubs are producing but also to get to meet other clubs members and do some networking. The evening will see members from all of the clubs viewing the images and listening to the judge and hoping that we do well. Then the host club provides refreshments and you can view all of the prints around the room. Hopefully we will see many of you there, the location details are below.

President’s Trophy Photography Competition – 2013

The President’s Trophy is an annual competition for WCC members that is a little more fun to compete in. The theme is usually quite relaxed and open to your own interpretation and the idea is to ‘think outside of the box’ and entertain the President. The image format is EDI and the normal club sizing and naming rules apply, if you are not sure about these. Just send your image to the usual by the 19th November 2013 so you have plenty of time.

This years theme is ‘FUZZY’ so go for your life but remember the closing date and get out there and get snapping.
