Sherbrooke Forest Outing – Macro and Closeup SIG

The next Macro and Close-up outing will be on Sunday 24th May 2026. The plan is:

  • 10am – Meet at O’Donohue Picnic Ground – Sherbrooke Lodge Rd, Sherbrooke VIC 3789
  • 12 noon – For those who can stay a little longer, reconvene at the Picnic Ground, BYO own chair, lunch box and Thermos.

It is our intention to focus on photographing fungi. Thanks to Mike and Elaine who did a bit of a reconnaissance for us and advise that the fungi is easily accessible from the O’Donohue Track.

There are toilet facilities at O’Donohue Picnic Ground.

Carpooling is encouraged as parking could be limited.

All are welcome to attend, whatever your experience level or whether you are photographing fungi or not. A macro lens is not necessary either, you can even try your mobile phone

Dahlia Farm Outing – Macro and Closeup SIG

The next Macro and Close-up outing will be on Friday March 6th 2026.

The plan is:

  • 7:30am – Visit the Dahlia Farm of Pam Albutt (president of the Dahlia Society of Vic)
  • 10:30 – Cranbourne Botanic Gardens – meet in the café at 10:30 with optional lunch after we photograph

All are welcome to attend either, or both venues, whether you are photographing macro or not.

If you know that you will be attending the Dahlia farm, please RSVP via email.

Macro and Close-up SIG Ceres visit

Our next Macro and Closeup SIG outing is on Friday September 12th 2025, and will be to Ceres in Brunswick East, cnr of Roberts and Stewart Streets. We will meet at the cafe (not the Grocery) at 9am for a coffee, enjoy some photography, and then meet back at the cafe for lunch/another coffee at 11:30. Please note the earlier start time!! We were there today at 9:45 and the car park was practically full so we are opting for an earlier start time to make parking easier. If you can’t make this time feel free to arrive when you can, have a wander, and then meet us in the cafe at 11:30.

Note that while the website lists opening hours as 9am to 12:30pm, this only applies to the visitor center, the park and cafe are open outside of those hours, so we don’t need to rush away.

I have spoken to them about our visit and they have just asked that we don’t photograph people. Given that we are there for macro, this shouldn’t be a problem.

If you wish to carpool, the whats app group would be a great way to facilitate that.

Thanks, and hope to see you there,
Leanne and Kirsten
