APS Photo Walk – Saturday 14th May 2022

Our May outing will be a combined event of the APS Photo Walk and street photography. The theme for this year is: “Repair, Recover and Renew”, so we decided Queen Victoria Market will be a good place to photograph.

From 8:30am to 11:30am, followed by brunch or lunch at Anthony’s Cafe (Common Ground Cafe, 225-229 Victoria St, West Melb)

Leaders: Sim Chong and Jennifer Sui

RSVP to Jennifer Sui by Thursday 12 May 2022.

Visiting the Ballarat International Foto Biennale

WCC members (and a few partners) visited the Ballarat International Foto Biennale today.

Starting with a coffee briefing, we visited several exhibitions ranging from Steven Arnold’s “Notes from a Queer Mystic” to the highlight, “Linda McCartney: Retrospective”. Many of us also took the opportunity to photograph the textures and interiors of the historic buildings which house the exhibitions.

A great program and a terrific day. Many thanks to Vicki who organised the day with Fiona Sweet (Artistic Director), and Danielle Barth (from Spicers, Lead Partner of the Biennale).

Don’t forget to share photos… here are a limited few “rushes” from me…

Valley Reserve Walk – Saturday 1st May 2021

This Saturday we have a tour of Valley Reserve with Ian Hunter about the indigenous plants and medicinal properties found in the Reserve.

The Waverley Camera Club will take photographs that will go towards an art exhibition in the Track Gallery, Mount Waverley Community Centre during NAIDOC Week (5-12 July). There may be an opportunity to take photos on the tour but I anticipate members will want to come back and take more images at a later time.

Photopix – November 2020

A big THANK YOU to the members who have stepped up and offered to share a few images, photo essays or presentations during 2020. Photopix could not have happened without you!

LAST CHANCE FOR THE YEAR ! you can still send me some COVID lockdown or FREEDOM photos!

Purpose: Challenging yourself

Jen Fawkes – Creating portfolios

In 2017 the Photographic Society of America introduced a new category of honours with a focus on portfolios. In 2018 I achieved my Bronze portfolio distinction (BPSA) with a portfolio titled “Challenging Perceptions” and in 2019 achieved my Silver Portfolio Distinction (SPSA) with a portfolio titled “Once there were people’.

This presentation will discuss the process, rules, requirements and the images that were part of my application for portfolio distinctions.

Purpose: A photographic report

Helen Warnod – Educational partnerships

The sharing of professional expertise internationally leads to an amazing opportunity to experience educational, and cultural marvels, both in and behind the scenes, in Delhi and Northern India.

I chose to produce a photographic rather than a written report.
